Llangorse Community Council

The Llangors Community Council area encompasses five villages: Llangors, Llanfihangel Talyllyn, Talyllyn, Pennorth (with Llangasty) and Llanywern. The Community Council is an elected body representing the views of our community. In practice, this involves discussing issues with people in our community to clarify their views and gauge the strength of their feelings on different topics. We encourage people to bring issues to us so that we can take them up at community council meetings.

Our task is to identify the needs and aspirations of its community and to take decisions that will lead to action within the community. If we cannot instigate or carry out what is needed then we would, as a council, approach the appropriate governing body, such as the Welsh Assembly Government, Powys County Council or Brecon Beacons National Park, amongst others. So basically, we are a conduit for information and a catalyst to start things moving.

We try to take a balanced view and give a fair hearing to representatives from different interest groups. We try to avoid being influenced by prejudice, whether in the sphere of race, religion, gender or any other of the labels which get attached to people.

If you would like more information, please contact the Clerk.
